The House That Logs Your Every Move / 23rd February 2005
Alpha-ID has taken a lead in providing the occupant tagging system for Project Life. In an experiment run by the University of Nottingham, a family of four will be moving into a luxury home built by David Wilson Homes in Sheffield, each member of the family will be tagged, movements and use of electrical equipment will be monitored to assess how changing lifestyles can best be catered for in new housing.
The family will wear wristwatch "tags" around the clock, linked to a computer in the roof, which for two months will log how long they spend in each room and their use of gadgets. Even visitors will be asked to put a tag on at the door so researchers can discover how designs affect people's use of a house in the 21st Century.
Information about the project has featured on the radio, the Mail, the Daily Telegraph and other media, further information about the project is available at: www.projectlife.info

29th June 2004
Alpha-ID, Wavetrend UK's European* Distributor for PC Access Control Systems (PCAC), has launched a new reseller programme to help further develop PCAC sales throughout the UK and Europe*.
Announcing the launch, Rob Church, Channel Manager went on to say "PCAC is a revolutionary product that has applications wherever sensitive data is held on a PC. It automatically secures a machine when the user leaves its vicinity and logs them on again on their return. Information theft and compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 are of increasing concern to every responsible organisation - failure to take adequate safeguards can have disastrous consequences and could leave companies and individuals open to prosecution."
He went on to say "Wavetrend PC Access Control is an exciting technology and, whilst opportunities exist in every sector, those already successfully supplying the Education, Health and Local Government sectors are sure to find PCAC a useful, complementary product."

PC Access Control in Education
Alpha-ID has run a successful pilot of its PC Access Control System at Outwood Grange College, one of the largest of its kind in the country. The trials demonstrated that classroom PCs could be automatically and reliably secured when staff were no longer in the vicinity.
"We were very impressed with the system and it certainly provided the security of our PCs in the classroom situation that we were looking for. This is particularly important in view of Data Protection regulations".
"Testing the ID Tags as we did, in a very large Department, meant that they had a very vigorous trial. The Mathematics Department were all in agreement that the tags worked extremely well".
In recognition of our assistance, Alpha-ID was invited along as guest speaker at the North East Bursars Forum in March 2004.

PC Access Control in Healthcare
At Healthcare-Computing 2004 held in Harrogate, one of the leading suppliers to the NHS demonstrated a biometrics system working in conjunction with PC Access Control equipment supplied by Alpha-ID. This was one of the highlights of the exhibition, the combination providing the 'ultimate' in convenience and security for hard-pressed staff in the caring profession. The biometrics interface verifies the user's ID and grants the appropriate access rights, whilst the PCAC system from Alpha-ID ensures automatic log-off when the machine is left unattended.
